Bracken Mountain Races Overview
The 4th Annual Bracken Mountain Races are two separate races (running then biking) held in Brevard, NC. The 12K race course is an all terrain course from the scenic roads of beautiful Brevard, to the gravel approach to the Brevard Music Center, and do a loop around the challenging single-track trail on Bracken Preserve. While the course is only 12k, both the trail run and the bike race are technically challenging. By the end of the race, a total of 905’ of elevation is gained!
THE RACE SITE - Bracken Mountain Preserve
Bracken Mountain Preserve and Recreation Area is 395 acres of forested land owned by the city of Brevard in Transylvania County, NC. This municipal preserve is due west of downtown and adjacent to Pisgah National Forest and the Brevard Music Center. The two trails to be utilized for the Bracken Mountain Race include the Bracken Mountain Trail & Brushy Creek Trail.
THE HOST SITE - West Main Street, Brevard NC
The races and Family Fun Run will all start on West Main Street (by England Street), near the Post Office in downtown Brevard. The Family Fun Run will consist of a loop through downtown that ends back at the starting line. The Finish Line for the 12k events is at Squatch Bikes & Brews in the newly revamped Brevard Lumberyard Arts District on King Street, Brevard (170 King Street, Ste #1, Brevard, NC 28712).
The Bracken Mountain Festival
This year, the Bracken Mountain Festival is hosted by Squatch Bikes & Brews and will feature live music, vendors/exhibit booths, and food/beverages available for race participants, spectators, and community members.The proceeds of this event will be fed back into offering experiential education activities including outdoor education for local schools, day camps, and outdoor family adventures.
Mountain Roots Family Fun Run!
Thanks to those of you who signed up for the Family Fun Walk/Run. Unfortunately, registration numbers do not allow us to hold this event this year. If you have already signed up, Mountain Roots will refund your entry fee and provide you with a Crystal Mountain Gem Mine Gift Card. We'd love for you to come out and join us for the 12k races & festival anyways!
